Bread Patties

A recipe for using up old bread leftovers. If possible, slice bread and rolls thinly before drying.

Ingredients

  • 325g dried bread/rolls
  • 4 onions
  • 1L milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 5 heaped tbsp wheat flour
  • 125g ham cubes
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Frying oil
  • Applesauce

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk in a large pot and soak the bread and roll slices in it. Depending on the type of bread, a little more or less milk may be needed. If the bread is very hard, it may take a while to fully soak.
  2. Once the bread is soft, blend the mixture with a hand blender.
  3. Peel the onions, cut into small cubes and add to the bread mixture.
  4. Add the eggs, flour and ham cubes and mix everything well.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Heat some oil in a pan and fry the patties in batches. If the mixture is too runny, add a little more flour.

The patties taste best with applesauce and can also be frozen.

Enjoy your meal!
